Supporting Girls at Ruwanweli Central College, Horowpothana, Sri Lanka - Sept - 2024
CSLWA proudly contributed to the construction of a changing room for Ruwanweli Central College, a school with approximately 1,000 girls who previously lacked access to private facilities. This limitation discouraged their participation in sports and extra curricular activities, impacting their opportunities for personal growth and athletic development.
With the construction of this changing room, CSLWA has given these deserving girls the chance to explore their potential in sports and other activities. We hope that one day, young talents from this school may become Sri Lanka's future champions, following in the footsteps of Olympic and SAFF Games medalists like Susanthika Jayasinghe and Tharushi Karunarathna.

Donation made for a school in Sri Lanka to buy uniforms for the Western Band - April 2024
Supporting Hureekaduwa Ladies College in Sri Lanka
Hureekaduwa Ladies College in Sri Lanka reached out to us for support as their Western Band lacked proper uniforms. The high costs made it difficult for parents to afford them. With 25 girls in the band, the total cost amounted to Rs 450,000, or Rs 18,000 per student.
Despite their efforts, the school managed to raise only Rs 100,000, leaving a shortfall of Rs 350,000. In response, our committee proudly stepped in to donate the necessary funds to cover this deficit.
CSLWA is very proud and happy to have contributed to this worthy cause, ensuring that these dedicated students have the uniforms they need.

Building a house in Sri Lanka - December 2023
Thanks to the funds we raised in the past two years through various events, we achieved a significant milestone in December 2023. We successfully built a much-needed house for Mr. Sunil Abeysinghe's family in Sri Lanka.
Mr. Abeysinghe faced challenges due to disabilities resulting from an accident, making it difficult for him to work. His two teenage boys had to pause their education to support the family financially. Despite these hardships, they were determined to ensure their younger sisters could continue their education.
The family was living in a deteriorating house, and the rent they were paying was becoming too much for them to bear.
With the backing of the Anuradhapura Divisional Secretariat, we successfully finished constructing a house that includes a sitting/dining area, one bedroom, kitchen, toilet, and a shower area. We also ensured the provision of water and electricity supply.
Beyond the housing project, we extended our assistance to the local community by contributing school books to the book bank overseen by the Anuradhapura Divisional Secretariat. These books will greatly benefit underprivileged children in the region.
Additionally, we extended our support by providing clothing and baby items to pregnant women facing financial challenges.
The total expenditure for all three projects amounted to Canadian dollars 5,000.

Humanitarian Project in Sri Lanka - January 2021 (during COVID)
The Year 2020 was a very challenging year, purely because of the COVID 19 pandemic and the limitations it had forced us to think about people in need in Sri Lanka. Social gatherings were limited by the authorities and only source of communication was through virtual meetings during this time. It was not an easy task but somehow we managed to achieve and support our motherland as well.
With the given situation, the CSLWA took the challenge and undertook a benevolent humanitarian project to support 125 families in Sri Lanka who were badly affected the by the COVID 19 pandemic. Through the project we profited each family with various dry rations to the value of LKR 3, 000 each per bag. Our member team who were in Sir Lanka during that time managed to very carefully select the needy, deserving and under privileged families from Colombo and suburbs in Maradankaduwa in Anuradhapura District. The funds were collected for this project from our members and their friends. Received great support from all of them. Also we gratitude to the members who were in Sri Lanka during that time for their valuable logistical support extended for the great success of this project.
